A-Affordable Transmissions Center, Your Local Team for Reliable, Quality Repairs
At A Affordable Transmissions Center, we focus on honest repairs that help people stay safe on the road. We specialize in rebuilding transmissions, transfer cases, clutches, and differentials, and we complete nearly all of this work in house. A Affordable has two locations, one in the South Denver Metro Area and one in the North Denver Metro Area. When you visit either of our Denver shops, you can expect clear communication, fair pricing, and a team that treats your vehicle with real care.
We also work as efficiently as possible so you can get your car back quickly and return to your day without long delays. Car trouble can feel overwhelming, so we keep the process clear from the first inspection to the final test drive. If your vehicle can be repaired, we will tell you. If it cannot, we will guide you toward the best option.

Proud to Serve Denver Since 1979
Supporting the community has always been part of who we are. Over the years, we have donated to Human Colorado and previously supported the Denver Dumb Friends League. We continue to look for ways to give back and help local organizations that strengthen the neighborhoods we serve.
We also support local whenever possible and have sponsored nearby high school football programs by paying for stadium advertising. Long-term relationships matter to us, and we are proud to be part of a community that has trusted this shop for generations.

Where Our Story Began
The shop began in 1979 in a small home garage with one purpose. The goal was to help Denver drivers keep their cars on the road longer by rebuilding transmissions instead of replacing them.
The original owner ran the business under the name Affordable Automatic and Standard and built a loyal customer base by focusing on quality repairs and fair pricing. From the beginning, the mission was simple: to help people stay safe on the road and avoid long delays so they could get back to work, enjoy their day, or take care of their family.
Ron Shaw took over in 2002 and renamed the shop A Affordable Transmission Center. His sons worked alongside him, one handling sales and customer care at the front desk and the other repairing vehicles in the back. Their family carried the tradition forward for two decades and helped shape the shop into what it is today.
We purchased the shop in 2022 and chose to keep the well-known name. In 2025, we expanded our services and added general repair services while continuing to rebuild transmissions in house.
Today, three of our own children help run the business. Jessica manages sales and customer care, Maggie supports both the front office and accounting, and Isaac is learning the trade in the shop as an apprentice.
The values that carried this shop from a home garage to two Denver locations still guide us. Help people, do honest work, and make sure every vehicle is safe and reliable for the road ahead.
A Team Built on Experience and Pride in the Work
Each of our shops is staffed with a reliable mix of service writers, seasoned technicians, and skilled builders who work together to keep repairs moving smoothly. At our Englewood location, we have two service writers or managers, four experienced technicians, one specialized builder, and one apprentice who is learning the trade every day.
Our Thornton shop has two service writers or managers, three seasoned technicians, and one dedicated builder. This location also handles most medium-duty vehicles, including RVs, box trucks, and tow trucks. No matter which shop you visit, the approach is the same. Fix the issue correctly, communicate clearly, and treat every vehicle with care.
We do not list individual bios because our team grows and changes, but everyone who works here is trained, supported, and committed to doing quality work. The pride behind the repairs is what stays consistent.
Our Promise: Clear Answers, Quality Work, No Nonsense
Our mission is simple. We want every customer to feel safe, respected, and confident in the work being done. That starts with honest communication. We explain the repairs, give clear estimates, and keep you updated so there are no surprises.
Fair pricing is part of that promise. We look for quality parts at good prices so our customers get real value. We also put effort into customer service by answering questions, returning calls, and making the process as easy as possible.
These principles guide every repair because they build trust and long-lasting relationships. When you choose us to work on your vehicle, we take that responsibility seriously.

Ongoing Training, Strong Skills, and Repairs You Can Rely On
Our team spends time each year in ongoing training so we stay current with new vehicle technology and diagnostic tools. Programs like NAPA Auto Care, Worldpac, ASE, GM, and ATRA give our technicians the knowledge they need to handle both common issues and complex drivetrain problems. This steady learning keeps our work accurate and efficient.
Here is what sets our transmission work apart.
Fixing things the right way the first time is important to us, because it saves customers time, stress, and unexpected costs. Every repair goes through a second inspection and two final test drives before the vehicle leaves the shop. This process protects drivers and keeps our standards where they should be.
Two Shops Built to Serve the Entire Metro Area
We chose to keep both the South Denver and North Denver locations because they allow us to serve drivers across the entire metro area with the same level of care. Each shop has its own strengths, yet both follow the same standards of honesty, skill, and friendly service. No matter which location you visit, you will find a team ready to help you get back on the road with confidence.
Here is how the two shops support different needs.
This location handles on-site alignments with our own machine, along with transmission repair, general repair, and everyday drivetrain work.
This shop serves most medium-duty vehicles, including RVs, box trucks, tow trucks, and other larger builds, along with our full range of transmission and drivetrain services.
Having two locations means shorter wait times, easier scheduling, and more support for the growing number of Denver drivers who rely on us. We also plan to expand toward Southeast and Southwest Denver so we can serve even more people across the metro area.
